WIN News - 12 May 2008 - Light Rail Ignored

Jonathon Reynolds, Deputy Convener of ACT Light Rail, a peak Light Rail public transport advocacy group in the ACT responded on WIN TV News Canberra to the transport provisions of the ACT budget.

In this interview, Jonathon emphasises that the money allocated for transport infrastructure in the ACT 2008 budget lacks any long term vision. It simply acts as a stop gap measure to tide the government over until the following election in 2012.

Jonathon also pointed out that Walter Burley Griffin, the original architect of Canberra had a vision for Canberra that has lasted and worked reasonably well for almost 100 years. Now is the time to undertake similar long term visionary planning for the next hundred years.
